Dog Doo's Best Friend

As we’re dooing lawns, we’re noticing a pretty familiar DooGooders enemy.  Leaves are everywhere, and they make our job tough.  We want you to know that we’ll doo our best to fight through them, but they create a pretty great hiding places for dog doo.  If your lawn has lots of leaves, we’ll spend a little extra time, but we may not get everything.  Also, if you’ve aerated your yard, you can imagine you’ve just created millions of doo look-a-likes. Again, we’ll spend extra time sorting through the clones and doo our best.  And as always, thanks for being such great customers!

Expect delays if you are on the Thursday or Friday DooGooders route doo to all the rain. We will get to you as soon as we can, but it may be Saturday in some cases.

Doo to all the recent rain, and because more cats and dogs are in the forecast, we may be delayed in getting to your yard. But rest assured that we will not rest assured until your yard is free of dog doo!

DooGooders is officially rained out today. If you were scheduled for service today, we’ll get to your yard tomorrow, (Wednesday April, 7, 2010). Hope you and your pooch stay dry!

We are excited to announce the launch of our new and improved website!   This is  The Scoop, our new blog.  Check back often to see what’s crackin at DooGooders.  Along with the regular updates from the Doo Crew, we’ll have local pet news and notes from dog experts from Sioux Falls and the surrounding area.

Our favorite upgrade to the site is the Turds section.  There’s videos from the singing DooGooders dogs, and they’ll be oodles of other smelly stuff we find on the web.

So feel free to look around and check back often for updates!

What do you get when you put two puts, two people, a record-setting blizzard and a 17.4 pound turkey together? One of the DooCrew’s most memorable holidays!

To take advantage of the record-setting blizzard, we enjoyed the holidays at home watching the snow fly!  A few weeks ago Maggie and Mayhem visited Santa at Petsmart and gave him their list.  Apparently Santa thought they behaved this year (what a sight it must be to see the name Mayhem on Santa’s Good List!).  Maggie got the pink Snuggie she requested, Mayhem received a sling-shot stuffed squirrel and they both got lots of their favorite rawhides.

But they may take after Santa since the weekend, because their bellies resemble bowls of jelly after gobbling down turkey, potatoes, gravy and biscuits (and a little cake for dessert).  A fine feast no matter how many feet or how much fur you have!

But what would this holiday blizzard be without some fun in the white stuff, so everyone bundled up and went sledding Christmas Day.  Maggie and Mayhem loved it!

Now it’s time to think about 2010 and what resolutions the DooCrew will do.  We welcome your suggestions because we still feel sleepy from all that turkey!

Today the DooCrew takes time off from doing doo work to appreciate family, friends and furry folks who fill our days with love, laughter and light.  Go to our Facebook page and post why you’re thankful for your four-legged friend (and we love to see pictures, too!).

The DooCrew’s top dogs especially enjoy today with lots of people food, cuddling on the coach and football.  What a life!  Since you share your family with ours, we want to share a few moments of today with you!  Check out pugs Maggie and Mayhem digging in to their meal.  Thanks for supporting DooGooders!  We’re thankful for great families like you!

While it isn’t unusual for it to be a little smelly around the Doo Crew domicile, the last week got stinky for a not-so-good reason.  Our pug Mayhem, 18-months-old, got sick and left us with some clean ups we prefer to avoid.

We visited Dr. Todd Carr, Prairie Creek Pet Hospital.  We believed she ate something (and knowing Mayhem, living true to her name, she probably did!).  Dr. Carr sent us home with some medicine and she’s doing better the last few days, and even just seeing Dr. Carr and his staff made her feel better as you can see by the photos.

Also, thanks to the DeCourcey family for sending more photos from Pug-O-Ween 2009.  Check them out on the Pug Owners Society of the Sioux Empire (POSSE) Facebook page. Below you can see out Drayton DeCourcey’s awesome dinosaur costume and Max, his pug, as a lobster.

Now the Doo Crew started thinking about another holiday – Thanksgiving! We hope the weather holds out. If you need a yard cleaning so you can enjoy being outside before the snow flies, let us know. It’s only $18.99 through the end of the season.

What a beautiful September, er… November night in Sioux Falls!  We took the DooGooders top dogs on a wonderful walk tonight.  Aside from some frost on the grass, it almost felt like the perfect summer night.  No wind, no clouds, full moon.  Just an amazing night for a walk around the block.  In honor of election day, check out this story on maybe the most important American dog walker.

We’re thankful for the warm weather, but we know that Mother Nature will bark up a new tree soon.  Winter is just around the corner.  Once the snow falls and sticks around, we’ll shut down for the season.  We’d love to service your lawn all winter, but there’s no way to doo a good job once snow falls and the ground freezes.  Until then, we’re offering a special Fall Clean.  We’ll doo a one time pick-up for just $18.99, from now until that white crap stays around for winter.

Whoops!  We almost forgot to mention the great time we had at Candace Ann Photography the other day.  They had a really amazing fund raiser for Second Chance Rescue, where they took pics of pups in return for dog food donations.  You won’t believe how good these shots turned out.  We’ll be sure to share as soon as we have some proofs.  We’ll talk soon!

Thanks to POSSE members for coming out in droves to raise money for Second Chance Rescue in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Below are mugs from Pug-O-Ween, 2009. Special thanks to our sponsors, Center for Active Generations, Paws & Reflect and PetSmart. We’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story!
