We just wrapped up one of the more memorable weeks in DooGooders history – spending several days at the PooPrints lab in Knoxville, Tennessee. PooPrints uses DNA technology to keep apartment and condo lawns looking good as new and free of doo! The process is surprisingly simple (well, unless you’re the scientist doo-ing the tests) and extremely affordable. During our time in Knoxville, we learned all the ins and outs of this awesome new technology. It all starts by taking an easy and painless cheek swab.
Here you see Mattie – who helps train the new PooPrints distributors like us – volunteering to have her cheek swabbed for probably the 100th time! She’s a great sport!
The PooPrints scientists then process the swab for DNA. So at that point – our work is done.
If a property manager finds doo on the grounds they simply take a sample and send it back to lab, where once again the scientist does the dirty work, matching the doo to the dog. Once we have that info, we alert the property manager who typically levies a fine against the tenant who failed to pick up after their best friend. We talked to residents and property managers in Knoxville who absolutely love this service.
Adam Chavira with Legends at Oak Grove (pictured here) says his grounds went from nasty to spotless within a week of using PooPrints. The price is right, too. The initial DNA collection costs just $34.99. And each dog doo sample costs $44.99 to process. Most property managers simply pass those costs on to the tenant who own dogs – and many fine tenants $100 or more for not picking up their dogs mess. So they’re able to make some extra money for the enforcement. Legends at Oak Grove uses that extra cash to make their property even more pet friendly. They’re actually putting in a dog spa for the pet owners!
The fine folks in Knoxville aren’t the only ones enjoying this new service. PooPrints is available around the country, from Miami to Washington – and of course – in Sioux Falls! Midwest Property Services is having great success with PooPrints. We also just added a Lloyd Companies property – who also loves PooPrints! They’ve found just one rouge dog doo on their property this month. All thanks to dog DNA!
We know this is a new way to doo dog poo – so if you have any questions just fire an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org – and we’ll be happy to answer any questions. We’ll be posting videos from our trip soon – so stay tuned!
